explorASIAN 2014 festival and Generation One Art Exhibition
May is Asian Heritage Month. Experience the richness of Asian Canadian arts and culture on May 3rd, Saturday, at the International Village Mall, 88 West Pender St. Vancouver BC as explorASIAN 2014 kicks off a month-long celebration with an opening ceremony for the festival and for the Generation One Art Exhibition.

Speakers: Elder Larry Grant, BC Min. of International Trade and Multiculturalism Teresa Wat, , VAHMS President Ken McAteer, Philippine Consul General Neil Ferrer, Korea Consul General Kie-Cheon Lee, Art curator/consultant Grace Eiko Thomson.

After the ceremony, Generation One Art Exhibition opens for viewing of over 60 artworks at International Arts Gallery on the 2nd floor. Celebrating its 5th anniversary, Pan-Asian first generation artists share their impressions in the theme, “So This Is Canada!” Artists Danvic Briones artbydanvic.com and Hai-Ping Lee will demonstrate their work processes. The art exhibition continues through May 15th.
Part 2 of the art exhibition is “Vancouver”, artist Water Poon’s splendid watercolours. Opening reception, May 17th, 2 pm. The show runs till May 30th. iagbc.ca
