Vancouver Asian Film Festival features Filipino Films November 7-10, 2019
Vancouver Asian Film Festival is back for its 23rd year running November 7-10 at Cineplex Odeon International Village! This year they have a great selection of Filipino films and stories to watch including:
1) Becoming Labrador directed by Rohan Fernando, Tamara Segura, and Justin Simms. Screens Nov 8, 7pm. Follow a group of Filipino workers who try to find a better life and home for their families on the far side of the world in Labrador in documentary film ‘Becoming Labrador’ directed by Rohan Fernando, Tamara Segura, and Justin Simms.

2) Empty By Design directed by Andrea A. Walter. Screens Nov 9, 7:30pm. Two individuals find themselves back in the Philippines after years of being away. Feeling isolated in a place that was once called home, their friendship helps them find a sense of peace and connection to their lost culture.

3) Yellow Rose directed by Deanne Paragas. Screens Nov 10, 7:30pm. A Filipino girl named Rose who wants to pursue her country music dreams has her world shattered when her mom suddenly gets picked up by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
