5 Reasons to See Right Footed at the Vancouver Asian Film Festival

5 Reasons to See Right Footed at the Vancouver Asian Film Festival – by Jaclyn Jularbal

We are excited to be at the Force of Change Program happening this Saturday, November 7 as a Community Partner for the Vancouver Asian Film Festival.  The feature film Right Footed is an exceptional tale of Philippine-American Jessica Cox, who despite being born without arms is living life to its fullest potential.  If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, here are five reasons why you should see Right Footed at the Vancouver Asian Film Festival:

1 – Right Footed shows you that “you can.”

Right Footed makes you want to stop putting projects and goals aside.  It also makes you want to write and finish your bucket list – because you can. Jessica Cox is a fierce and fearless woman who seizes life in a way that inspires you to get moving, and get with it.  Her story is inspirational and it makes you want to find your passion and find your purpose because good things are possible despite the challenges we all may face.

2 – Right Footed refreshes your spirit.

There’s a little voice within us that wants us to succeed.  When we struggle, it whispers to keep going.  When we fail, it tells us to try harder next time.  Watching Right Footed reminds us that this voice is there, and if we listen hard enough we’ll be encouraged to do great things.  This voice is our spirit and our spirit is our biggest fan. Jessica Cox shows us what it’s like to live with self-assurance, and it’s a refreshing, beautiful thing to see.

3 – Right Footed reminds you that you are in control.

Unexpected things happen, but how we handle it is our choice. Watching Right Footed makes you hopeful because you’ll witness that sometimes, even when life gives you the unexpected, your destiny is up to you. Appreciate differences, welcome challenges, and find the hope you need to embrace the unexpected because you are in control and you define your own life.

4 – Right Footed gives you a new idol.

Jessica Cox is an influential woman. She’s motivation, success, drive, and positivity. She’s a “can” kind of person and she’s created the life she wants to live despite the challenges she faces.  She’s the kind of idol we all want our kids to look up to. Right Footed is a movie with an impressive story, but it’s also the kind of movie that makes you think about yourself and the kind of person you want to be.  What are your abilities? What are you giving to the world? Are you living up to the kind of self you want to be?

5 – Right Footed teaches you the power of just one person.

Right Footed teaches you that embracing your challenges and telling your story can have a huge effect on those around you.  Barbara Guerra shared her challenges and a young Jessica Cox was listening. Sometimes it takes just one person sharing to have a ripple effect on the world. Love all of yourself and show others what that’s like – because you don’t know the powerful impact you may have.

Visit the Vancouver Asian Film Festival website now to get your tickets and check out the fantastic lineup of films they have planned for this weekend. We look forward to seeing you at the Cineplex Odeon International Village Cinemas this Saturday, November 7, at Right Footed as part of the Force of Change program.
